Senior Software Engineer - Map

About the role

Snapp is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Map team and help build reliable, scalable backend and data systems that power products used by millions of users. The engineer designs, builds, tests, deploys and operates high-throughput services and large-scale data systems, working closely with product managers, data scientists and machine learning engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test, deploy and operate scalable services, primarily in Golang
• Solve challenges around high-throughput APIs, distributed systems, large datasets, geospatial information and reliable data processing
• Contribute to architectural decisions, lead complex technical initiatives and mentor other engineers
• Take ownership of the full lifecycle of systems, from design to rollout, monitoring, performance optimization and production support
• Participate in the on-call rotation to keep business-critical services available

Required profile

• Strong Golang proficiency and experience building production backend services or microservices
• Experience designing scalable, reliable, low-latency distributed systems
• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases, caching systems and message brokers
• Experience operating production services, including monitoring, observability, troubleshooting and performance analysis
• Ability to lead technical design and take projects through to continuous improvement
• Willingness to take part in on-call support

• Nice to have: geospatial technologies such as PostGIS, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, information retrieval concepts, and basic machine learning concepts
